On Thursday, July 28, 2022, IAMGOLD/Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. together with the Kirpalani Foundation and the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP), proudly inaugurated the first eye care hospital in Suriname. The expansion and upgrading of the former eyecare clinic were made possible by the aforementioned companies for the purpose of optimizing patient care in Suriname. For Bruno Lemelin, Senior Vice President Operations & Projects of IAMGOLD, it is a true honor and privilege to not only witness but also be part of this historic moment for Suriname. "As the parent company of our subsidiary Rosebel Gold Mines, we strive to achieve exemplary Corporate Citizenship within the Surinamese community. It is the core purpose of IAMGOLD to enrich the lives of our stakeholders and we do this by investing in sustainable projects that add value to the entire community," he said during his speech. "When this project was presented to IAMGOLD, we were very excited to contribute to it. It is an especially good feeling to see all that has been put in place and that we were able to help create a facility that will serve generations to come."

In November 2018, IAMGOLD, Kirpalani Foundation and the AZP entered into an agreement to convert the then eyecare clinic into a state-of-the-art eyecare hospital. In bringing this project to fruition, along with additional contributions from the National Development Bank (NOB) and the Surinamese government, the companies spent more than USD 4,000,000 on construction work and the purchase of medical equipment. The speakers of the day all expressed their appreciation for the financial support, with President Chandrikapersad Santhoki of the Republic of Suriname addressing a special word of thanks to the leadership of IAMGOLD and the staff of the company, "You have expressed your commitment and Corporate Social Responsibility as a gold company and it goes beyond that: you are supporting the Surinamese community. And on behalf of my government and the people of Suriname, I express my sincere thanks for your contribution."

In recent years, IAMGOLD/Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. has donated to the healthcare sector, among other things, a modern mammogram, Phillips EPIQ 5G ultrasound machine and a Phillips premium CX50 ultrasound machine for AZP's radiology department, an anesthesia machine for the benefit of s'Lands Hospital, and a Steam Sterilizer was donated to St. Vincent's Hospital. Also in 2019, two (2) iPM8 Patient monitors including CO2 module were funded for the pediatric ward of Diakonessen Hospital and several medical clinics in district Brokopondo were provided with medical equipment.
