From 17th to 30th June 2018, Suriname's men and women play top basketball players against Caribbean opponents in the FIBA WOMEN'S CARIBBEAN CUP and the FIBA AMERICUP 2021 in the Anthony Nesty Sports Hall. Rosebel Gold Mines is a proud partner of the Surinamese Basketball Association and in that capacity has facilitated the preparatory training camp for men's selection, as well as contributing to providing the teams with representative outfits and accessories.
In preparation for the competitions, Sustainability Manager of Rosebel Gold Mines and sports fanatic, Jerry Finisie, has motivated both Surinamese teams to focus on their qualifying goal. "Make Suriname proud by never giving up" according to Finisie who encouraged the selection "to go for Gold."
With this tournament Suriname is given the opportunity to show her best side. This gives both the national team of the men and the ladies a unique opportunity to profile themselves for local and international audiences on their own soil and to raise the basketball sport in Suriname to a higher level.
The FIBA AmeriCup 2021 Caribbean Pre-Qualifier will qualify two men's teams for the FIBA AmeriCup 2021 Qualifiers to be played in early September. The FIBA Women's Caribbean Cup will qualify three teams for the FIBA Women's Centrobasket Championship later this year.
Rosebel Goldmines wishes our Sranan Tigri's every success: Go for Suriname, go for gold!
